Product description : Char Model: StuG IV

Italeri brand tank model

Developed at the end of the Second World War on the chassis of the Panzer IV medium tank to provide the German army with an assault gun and tank destroyer, the StuG (Sturmgeschütz) IV was equipped with a Stuk40 75mm L/ cannon. 48 high velocity installed in a casemate and protected by an armored mantlet. This weapon was capable of piercing the armor of main enemy armored vehicles. Distributed to units in the first months of 1944, it supplemented and often replaced the StuG III, production of which had been slowed down due to increasingly frequent Allied bomber raids on German industrial zones. Widely deployed on the Eastern Front, the Stug IV was also used by armored units and anti-tank detachments of the Wehrmacht in Normandy where, thanks to its low profile, it was difficult to spot in the hedgerows of the French countryside.
