The Douglas DC-7 is an American four-engine airliner built between 1953 and 1958. Following requests from various American airlines for more efficient long-haul aircraft, Douglas built the DC-7, successor to the Douglas DC-6: it is bigger, more powerful and has more range than its predecessor, although the basic design remains the same. The DC-7C version is one of the very first airliners to be able to cross the North Atlantic non-stop. 338 Douglas DC-7s are built, including 121 DC-7C1 models. The version presented here bears the colors of the Royal Dutch company KLM.
