Product description : Model ship HMS WARSPITE Battleship Royal Navy 1942

The battleship 03 HMS (Her Majesty Ship) Warspite was launched on November 26, 1913 and entered service on March 8, 1915. In 1916, it was engaged in the Battle of Jutland within the 5th Combat Squadron during which it received fifteen shots on goal which kill fourteen personnel on board and leave sixteen injured: it is so damaged that its crew momentarily loses control. Repaired throughout World War I after various additional incidents, it was engaged in the Atlantic and Mediterranean during the Interwar Period. Renovated from 1934 to 1937, the Warspite then became the flagship of the British fleet in the Mediterranean. When World War II breaks out, it was deployed in April 1940 as part of the Norwegian campaign and took part in numerous coastal batteries as well as German warships. Engaged in the Mediterranean, he took part in the Battle of Calabria during which he carried out one of the most important long-distance shots in history, hitting the Italian Ciulio Cesare more than 23 kilometers away. On March 27, 1941, he took part in the Battle of Cape Matapan and engaged several Italian ships which were severely damaged and destroyed. The Warspite is damaged during the Battle of Crete in a German air attack. Repaired in the United States, it was then deployed in the Indian Ocean before returning to the Mediterranean in June 1943 to participate, within the H force, in Operation Husky in Sicily as well as in the Avalanche operation in front of Salerno. Hit three times by a German plane and accusing the loss of nine killed and fourteen wounded, it was then towed to Gibraltar before finalizing in March 1944 repairs to Rosyth in Great Britain. it anchored off Sword Beach and on June 6, 1944, it bombed the Villerville and Mont Canisy batteries in particular, consuming 300 375 mm shells in forty-eight hours. During the continuation of the Battle of Normandy, HMS Warspite supported the Allied land forces with its fire: from June 9 to 11, it operated for the benefit of the Americans before crossing off Gold Beach to support the British. While en route to Rosyth in order to change his guns, he struck a magnetic mine and after short repairs he resumed service in Normandy. In August, he patrols along the English Channel and bombs the towns of Brest, Le Havre and Walcheren. On January 1, 1945, after good and loyal service, the Warspite was placed in reserve and then permanently withdrawn from service. A storm in April 1947 sank in the bay of Mont and, despite multiple efforts to refloat it, its wreck remained there until 1950. It was finally demolished the same year.
